How old is a Trousdale School student?
All Trousdale School students must be age 22 and above. Our current population includes students in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s.
Is Trousdale School a non profit?
Yes, we have a certification letter from the IRS as a 501(c)3.
Is Trousdale School year round?
Trousdale School is a year round school. The school is closed approximately five weeks per year for spring, summer, fall, and holiday breaks.
What types of classes do you offer?
Trousdale School offers functional academics (reading, writing, math), life skills, vocational skills, arts, and recreation classes.
Do you have a residential program?
We are developing our Campus Master Plan, which includes a residential component; check back for future developments. We are currently a day program.
Does Trousdale School provide job placement?
Once an individual has been accepted into the program, we offer job placement services within the local community. Students work independently for full wages between 5-20 hours per week.
Do you offer transportation services?
We offer centralized pickup and drop off services near Bonny Oaks and East Brainerd in Chattanooga. Students from Cleveland come directly to school.
Do you accept volunteers?
We accept adult volunteers (over 18 years) in various capacities within the school. Please check our volunteer page or send us an email.
Does every student pay tuition?
Yes, all students pay tuition. We offer a sliding scale scholarship for interested families based on family income. Please contact the school for additional information.
Is Trousdale School licensed and accredited?
We are licensed through Tennessee DIDD (Department of Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities). We are the first adult day habilitation license for developmental disabilities in the State of Tennessee!
We are members of National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC), and we are accredited through the National Commission for the Accreditation of Special Education Services (NCASES).
Does each student have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)?
Yes, but at Trousdale School we call it an Individualized Life Plan (ILP). The ILP team meets annually to review each student’s growth and to establish goals and objectives for the coming year.
